A short history

Our Story

From a remote-work intro to a bookshop proposal — the short version.

How it started

A new colleague, a strange year

We met in 2021, in the middle of a global pause. Maeve joined the same company as Adam, and an early project threw us onto the same calls, the same Slack threads, the same late-night problem-solving. Somewhere between the spreadsheets and the small talk, we became proper friends.

In person, at last

Phoenix Park, when the world reopened

When lockdown finally eased, our team met up for a day in the Phoenix Park. It was the first time we'd been in the same place at the same time. We spent most of the afternoon talking to each other and slowly realising the friendship had quietly turned into something else entirely.

Finding our way

Officially us

Not long after, we stopped pretending it was just tea after work. The relationship that started over a shared project became the one that everything else now revolves around — including the dog.

Building a home

One flat, two of us, and Púca

In 2025 Maeve moved in, and the place finally felt like ours. Books on every shelf, a far too deep couch, and Púca the dog ruling the household with great confidence and very very long legs.

The question

Chapters Bookshop, Parnell Street

Later that year, in our favourite bookshop in Dublin, surrounded by our closest friends and Púca, Adam proposed. After a beat of genuine shock, Maeve said yes — and we walked out engaged, slightly dazed, and very happy.

And now

A hillside in Crete, with all of you

Which brings us here. We're so glad you're part of this next chapter.

Standing beside us

The Wedding Party

Bride's Side

  • EmerMaid of Honour

Maeve's older sister — has been (not so) quietly running the show since day one.

  • SarahBridesmaid

Best friend from Wicklow. They met at summer camp in America where Sarah was the boat captain — quite literally Maeve's only escape route off the island.

  • LeighBridesmaid

Best friend from Belfast. Stayed friends despite Leigh raising her children with English accents.

Groom's Side

  • SarahGROOMSWOMAN

Met in school when Adam moved to Cavan, then studied CS together at Maynooth — and married another friend, Andrew.

  • AdeleGROOMSWOMAN

Met in a maths tutorial while Adam was repeating; she asked a question, not knowing he'd already failed the class twice.
